Exterior Painting in Des Moines & Central Iowa

Wash. Scrape. Caulk. Prime. Spray. Durable exterior finishes built for Iowa weather.

Iowa is hard on paint. Freeze-thaw cycles, humid summers, hail, wind, sun, an exterior repaint has to be built to survive all of it, and that starts long before the first coat is sprayed. Our exterior process leans on proper washing, thorough scraping and sanding, caulking that seals every joint, and spray technique that gives you an even, factory-consistent finish. Every exterior project is led by a CIP Certified painter who has been trained on this exact process.

Iowa Weather & Scheduling

We schedule exterior projects from spring through fall, when temperatures and humidity stay in a range that lets modern exterior paints cure properly. That said, we don’t rush a project just because the calendar says we should. If weather turns during your project, we pause, protect the work, and come back when conditions are right. It’s the only way to deliver a finish that actually lasts. During your estimate we’ll give you an honest timeline based on the season and current schedule.

Exterior Painting FAQs

How long does an exterior paint job take?

Most exterior repaints take three to seven working days, weather depending. Larger homes, homes with extensive prep needs, or multi-color schemes can run longer. Your written proposal includes a specific estimated timeline.

We paint exteriors from spring through fall in Central Iowa. Late spring through early fall gives us the most predictable temperature and humidity windows for proper cure. We watch the forecast closely and reschedule when necessary.

You don’t need to be home while we’re working, but we’ll coordinate access at the start of the project and check in with you regularly.

A properly prepped and painted exterior in Central Iowa typically holds up eight to fifteen years, depending on siding material, sun exposure, and the paint used. Prep quality is the single biggest factor, which is why we spend so much of the project on it.

Yes. Protecting plants, hardscape, and outdoor furniture is part of every exterior project. If plants need to be tied back, moved, or covered, we handle it as part of setup.

Both are fine. Many homeowners repaint the whole exterior, but some choose to repaint just one or two sides that are more sun-exposed. We can quote either.
